Who Is Reptyle Brainz?

This board hangs in the Seattle Police homicide unit and is maintained by Detective Emma Simms with help from Officer Justin Dufrene. It shows the current state of the board and evolves as the story progresses.
Songs 1 and 2 ("NatureNurture" and “Sophia”) provide background on the character Reptyle Brainz. Our story takes place starting January 26th, 2026 with the investigation of the murder of Amy Benson. The story comes to an end on February 5, 2026 with song 15 “Set Free (Night 10: Tony)”, though there will be an Epilogue song 16 entitled “Human”.

Sophia
We know he was attacked by 3 guys in an alley when he was 17 and he plotted and achieved his revenge. We know he moved to Seattle and married Sophia. We know Sophia was kidnapped and Reptyle Brainz saved her, killing her captives in the process.
Detective Emma Simms
Emma was born in Oakland, CA and grew up in a small town in the mountains of Northern California. Her father was a sheriff and was good to Emma. He shared his philosophy and talked about police work with her. Emma’s mother was cruel and an alcoholic. Emma left home at 16 and lived with her friend Mia and her family. She joined the police at 18 and was mentored closely by her father. Her father was killed brutally while on duty when Emma was 22. She is now 42. She became obsessed with solving her father’s case but never did. It made her hard, but she is very straight and “by the book”.
Officer Justin Dufrene
Justin was born and grew up in Baltimore, MD. He became a cop at age 20. He became disillusioned with police work, quit and moved to Seattle. After ten years working odd jobs he joined the Seattle police in 2022. He is now working towards becoming a detective.
Tony Topher
Tony grew up in Seattle and married his high school sweetheart Melody. He went to UW and worked as a salesman but soon started his own company selling HVAC equipment. He worked hard and was a successful and astute businessman. Now he owns a well known Plumbing and HVAC company and he is the face of that company, appearing constantly in ads.
Melody Topher
Married to Tony and works under Richard. She doesn’t like either one and she feels stuck. She was good friends with Amy until she began to suspect that Amy was having an affair with Tony. She is friends with Kennedy and considers herself his guardian- tries to keep him straight. She tells Kennedy all of her most intimate thoughts and feelings.
Richard Greaves
Richard was born in Seattle to wealthy parents. He got in with a bad crowd in his teens and got into drugs. He went to rehab and got clean, then went off to college in New York. He was an athlete and did very well, graduating with honors. He started working 80 hour days on Wall Street. He couldn’t handle the pressure and slipped back into drug use. Ended up losing a ton of money and was fired. Moved back to Seattle where he worked at First Centennial Bank. Moved up the ranks and now heads the accounting department. Amy Benson and Melody Topher both work under Richard.
